Softball Rules
This is a Double
Elimination tournament. The rules will follow the 2012 ASA softball rule
book, with a few twists.
1. The
UMPIRE has FULL authority of the games, their ruling is GOSPEL, and they
are volunteers and will not tolerate poor sportsmanship.
2.
Teams must start and end the game with the 10 player rule, if your team
is short a player; we will assign a player from our pool players to
start the game. Remember
games are only 6 innings.
3. No
Profanity
4. No
Alcohol
5.
There must be a minimum of 5 males and 5 females on the roster
(see rule 7).
6.
There will be 10 defensive players on the field.
7..The defensive team
will be 50% male and 50% female.
8.
There is a 1 pitch per batter rule.
9.
There is a 10 run mercy rule after 4 innings, after 3 ½ for home
team.
10.
1 hour time limit per game.
11.
18 years or older.
12.
No Slide Rule is in effect. Go into every base standing.
Can over run the base in a
straight line, if you turn to the left to advance you can be tagged out.
13.
6 Inning game. **in the event of a tie
14.
SLOW-PITCH GAMES
15. No
pinch runner, an injured player can have a pinch runner but must be of
same sex and it will be who made the last out.
16.
Alternating batting order, Male/ Female or Female/Male.
17.
Free substitutions, but a starter and a sub are married in the order;
substitutions are also male for male or female for female. A player who
plays defensively must get their turn to bat.
18. All
teams need to provide their own first aid kits and ice packs.
19.
Home team will be decided by a coin flip except for the championship
game where the last undefeated team will be home.
If a second game is needed, a coin flip will then decide.
**In the event of a tie:
One more inning will be played, the last batter called out will
be placed on second base (batting order will not change).
If there is still a tie at the end of this extra inning the
totals of innings 1, 2 & 3 will break the tie.
If the first 3 innings scores are tied we will use the totals of
innings 5 & 6 for a tie breaker, if that still results in a tie we will
do a coin toss.
